April 5, 2018, Beijing, China. The prestigious Venice Biennale will open its pavilions to curate the world’s top and influential art and designs this May 26th 2018. The long-standing organization invited MCM Group International (MCM Group) to exhibit at the biennial (every two years) global art festival. “MCM-ATB.UNIT” will present their concept, “Art and Technology Integrated at the Mora Palace”, showcasing their work to the world’s top stage for art and design, specifically in the architecture category.
Venice Biennale (La Biennale di Venezia), with over 120 years of history, curates a festival for up and coming and innovative art and design projects, standing as one of the most important art events in Europe, surpassing the German Kassel Documenta, a contemporary international exhibition that shows every five years and the Brazil Sao Paulo Biennale, the second oldest art biennial in the world. The first Venice Biennale opened on April 22nd 1894. Chinese contemporary artist Cai Guiqiang and Wang Guangyi participated in the exhibition, garnering great success.
This year’s biennial theme is “FREESPACE”. The chief curators, Yvonne Farrell and Shelley McNamara, describe “FREESPACE” as “…a word which describes a generosity of spirit and a sense of humanity at the core of architecture’s agenda.”
Founder of MCM-ATB.UNIT, MCM Group’s senior curator of device and space artists, Yu Guang referred to their exhibition design philosophy as “encompassing” this “FREESPACE” theme. Guang mentions, “We will bring to Venice the project that highlights intelligent rural system devices, using the ‘Xiajiang Village of Jiaxing, Zhejiang Province’ project as a forefronting case of science and technology blending with artistic design. This project’s design aims to improve China’s 700 million rural residents’ quality of life by systematically understanding and applying integrated design to agriculture, health care and entertainment with the nuanced practicalities specific to countryside life.”
Guang continues, “’FREESPACE’ offers a chance to emphasize on natural free gifts, including sunlight, moonlight, air, gravity, and natural and man-made resources. It also encourages us to observe the world in new ways and to find solutions for people to live a rich and dignified life on this fragile planet.
We have integrated a variety of resources into ‘Big Data Planning’ processes from China’s rural areas, to simulate the complexity of the real world in an ingenious way.
Our goal is to better design by utilizing the power of artificial intelligence, to gain insight for the real life, so we could explore the patterns within the complexity hidden within the massive amounts of data.”
